Mikel Obi to earn 100 million naira weekly following offer by Chinese club

A Chinese football club, Shanghai SIPG, has offered Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi a mouth-watering contract that will see the Chelsea midfielder earn $212,000 per week. The figure translates to a little above 100 million naira using today's exchange rates.


Mikel has been left out of Antonio Conte's selection throughout all the games Chelsea played this season after he returned from the Rio 2016 Olympics where he captained Nigeria to a bronze medal win in the men's football event.

The 29-year-old will likely take the deal, industry insiders suggest - although there's no official word on the matter from Mikel.
