Robbie Keane targeted by Western Sydney Wanderers after LA Galaxy exit confirmed.......

Robbie Keane has attracted interest from Western Sydney Wanderers, after announcing he will part ways with MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of his contract.

Australian side Western Sydney Wanderers are targeting a move for Robbie Keane after he confirmed he will leave LA Galaxy in December after six seasons in MLS.

Keane has led the Galaxy to three MLS Cup victories, scoring more than 100 goals in all competitions since signing for the club in 2011.

The 36-year-old, who retired from international football in August after 146 Republic of Ireland caps, joins Steven Gerrard in leaving the MLS franchise.

The striker said he is targeting one final challenge in club football before hanging up his boots, and the A-League side are said to be monitoring the situation.

"He's certainly a player it's hard not to have a look at," coach Tony Popovic said, adding that the club was considering several new players.

"But obviously Robbie is the one everyone is talking about at the moment.

"He's had a fantastic career, he's a great player and still scoring goals, so he's certainly a player we'd have a look at."

The former Liverpool and Spurs star, who is the Republic of Ireland's record goalscorer with 68 goals from 146 appearances, was one of the most successful foreign players to ply his trade in the US top flight.
